Modern CI/CD is broken: too slow, too flaky, too noisy. We're here to fix that.
At Mergify, our vision is simple: to make CI/CD work for developers — not against them.
We're building the default CI companion: a developer-first platform that helps engineering teams merge faster, catch flaky tests before they break you, and keep main green, no matter how large your codebase grows.
Our mission is to give developers back control of CI — with less waiting, fewer failures, and zero wasted runs. From smarter merge queues and batching to two-step CI and monorepo-aware automation, Mergify is redefining what fast, reliable CI should feel like.
By empowering teams to focus on value instead of plumbing, we help them ship faster, stay in flow, and turn CI from a bottleneck into a competitive advantage.
The Origin Story
Mergify started with a simple problem: why is merging code still such a hassle?
Back in 2018, Julien Danjou and Mehdi Abaakouk (longtime open-source contributors and infrastructure experts) were frustrated by how much time developers spent managing pull requests, flaky tests, and CI failures. So they built a small automation tool to help their own teams. It quickly struck a chord. What began as a side project turned into a product, then into a company.
Since then, Mergify has evolved from a GitHub bot into a powerful platform used by thousands of developers around the world. We’re still customer-funded, open-source-minded, and obsessed with solving real problems for real engineers.
The Team
We're a small, passionate team of builders, developers, tinkerers, and problem-solvers. We work remotely across Europe, connected by a shared love for clean code, thoughtful design, and the satisfaction of solving hard problems for other engineers. What unites us are our values:
Openness & Ownership
Everyone at Mergify has a voice and the autonomy to make things happen. We take responsibility for what we build, and we’re not afraid to question how things are done.
Efficiency & Simplicity
We aim for boring solutions, avoid unnecessary complexity, and ship iteratively. We care more about what works than what’s shiny.
Collaboration & Communication
We embrace asynchronous work and default to transparency. We believe good ideas can come from anywhere—and that context is key to good decisions.
Inclusion & Well-being
We know great work happens when people feel safe, trusted, and respected. Flexibility, balance, and psychological safety matter. We meet quarterly for retreats, cook together, debate ideas, and have fun along the way.
We’ve worked remotely since day one; not because it’s trendy, but because it’s how we’ve always worked best. Coming from open-source communities, we’re used to async collaboration, written communication, and getting things done without being in the same room.
Our team is spread across Europe, and that’s a strength. We organize our work around flexibility, not fixed hours. We trust each other to take ownership, communicate openly, and show up when it matters.
We also know remote work can be isolating, so we make space to connect—whether it’s casual chats, quarterly retreats, or just sharing what we’re cooking for dinner. Balance matters. So does having fun.
